In a post I wrote a few years ago, I mentioned my son had Cystic Fibrosis. That same week, I received and email from a reader suggesting that I look into using essential oils to treat his condition. At the time, I shot back a kind no thank you and didn’t think another thing of it.

Fast forward three years, and I am now a proud essential oils convert.

Now I must explain, I haven’t forsaken all pharmaceuticals for a totally holistic approach, but essential oils have become a part of my every day lives. And it makes me feel better knowing my family is using natural remedies in place of chemicals.

My journey with essential oils began in August 2014, after I’d heard a few of my close friends sing their praises. I chose Young Living because everything I heard and read about them pointed to quality and consistency.

After I started learning about essential oils and wondering what the difference was between Young Living and the ones I saw at the store (like Sprouts), I found out that not all essential oils are created equal. In fact, the majority of the oils you can buy from the store are not therapeutic grade oils.

The potential danger of an essential oil is generally relative to its level or grade of purity. Many essential oils are designed exclusively for their aroma-therapeutic quality; these essential oils generally should not be applied directly to the skin in their undiluted or “neat” form. Some can cause severe irritation, provoke an allergic reaction and, over time, prove hepatotoxic. Non-therapeutic grade essential oils are never recommended for topical or internal use. Source

However, most Young Living Essential Oils are therapeutic grade and safe for internal use (some oils are only for topical use no mater how completely pure they are.)

I could’ve simply started buying Young Living Essential Oils from my friends, but I wanted the 24% discount off retail prices, so I decided to become a member. I loved that I could sign up and get the member discount without being forced to sell anything to anyone or spend outrageous amounts of money. All I have to do to remain a member is to order at least $50 worth of products per year.

Since August, I’ve been learning about and using oils pretty much daily.

We use Lavender to sooth burns and heal scrapes or stop insect bites from itching. We use Peppermint to soothe a sore throat,  relieve a headache, stop a tummy from hurting or to pep us up for an afternoon of homework.

Peace and calming does just what its name says and I use it every night before bed. We use Thieves to knock out a sinus infection or a cold sore and also to disinfect the bathroom. Purification removes ticks from our dog and heals irritated skin that results from too much scratching.

The list goes on and on (and I’ll be sharing my journey with you through blog posts).

Young Living Independent Distributor [Wholesale Pricing] FAQs

Why Should I Become An Independent Distributor?

This is a great option that provides you 24% off retail price! As you use the oils and you share your testimonals with friends and family, you have the option of earning commissions when others join and purchase Young Living oils.

Is there a monthly order minimum?

To keep your membership with Young Living, there is no monthly minimum. Just order the oils as you need them. If you want to earn points to redeem towards product on future purchases, you will need to commit to order $50 per month.

I just really want to use oils myself. Do I have to sell Young Living products to be a distributor?

There is no obligation to sell oils when you join as an independent distributor. However, if you ever change your mind, you can jump right in.

Are you *sure* there are no monthly order requirements?

To retain an active distributor account, you have to place one 50PV minimum order per year (roughly $50). If you miss that deadline, you can reactivate your account by calling Young Living Customer Care with a 100PV (point volume) order.

If someone wants to join Young Living through me, what do I give them?

When you join, you will be assigned your own distributor number to give to your friends and family who are interested in joining as well.

Is there a way to save even more money?

Yes! The Essential Rewards program offers reduced shipping, credit for free oils & more! Plus each month there are great promotions for free oils when you place an Essential Rewards order. This is the $50 required monthly purchase I mentioned above.
