Confession time: I never did finish my closet makeover that was part of the 21 Day Self-Discipline Challenge. In fact, I didn’t even finish the challenge, however I DID finish one task that was part of the closet makeover project.
You’ve seen the fun jewelry hangers all over Pinterest, made with mismatched drawer pulls and handles? Well, I took it to the next level. I have a huge walk-in closet with built-in shelves. Since I’m purging my home at the moment, I ended up with some extra space and I thought…why not?
I absolutely LOVE my new jewelry organizer!
I started with this….
Then I painted the bottom and sides with some ivory paint left over from our kitchen remodel. On one side I added knobs at varying levels to hang necklaces and on the other side I screwed in knobs and drawer pulls for bracelets.
I purchased two craft frames from the unfinished wood section at Hobby Lobby and painted them with coral acrylic paint after using a staple gun to attach squares of wire screen to the back to make earring hangers. Next, I used a cordless drill to screw these into the wall. Then I painted over the screws with the coral paint.
I also found the trays in the unfinished wood section at Hobby Lobby and painted them the same coral color as the frames.
Then lined them with this fabulous felt…
I also added cup hooks to the sides of the frames for earrings that wouldn’t hook through the screen.
This is how I used to keep my jewelry organized…
Wouldn’t you agree this is much better?
