Blankets of Blessing Donation Drive

We may have had a few warm days recently but winter is not over and nights are still chilly. Unfortunately many in Oklahoma do not have a place to take shelter and if they do, there may not be electricity or gas for heat. Still others may be in a financial situation that renders them helpless to acquire basic household items like blankets.

Will you join Simple Saving Savvy in being the hands and feet of Christ?

Through Monday, February 25, we will be collecting new and gently used blankets of all sizes. You can drop off blankets at the following locations:

We will be adding more drop off locations as volunteers step forward. If your church or business would like to volunteer for this, please contact me.

Donated blankets should be in a bag labeled with Simple Saving Savvy or have a label firmly attached. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, please leave your name, address, phone number and number of blankets donated attached to your blankets.

All donated blankets will be donated to The HUB Mission Ministries and they will distribute them to faith-based, non-profit ministries throughout Oklahoma as needed.

Towards the end of last year, God began impressing upon my heart that I needed to be doing more. Giving more. Sharing more. To be doing my part as the hands and feet of Christ. But I didn’t know exactly what that should like for me.

What part did God want me to play?

Then I began to sense Him saying, “Just be ready. Be ready for the opportunities I bring. Listen to the desires I place in your heart.”

Late one cold night, in fact, the first REALLY cold night we had this winter, I was waiting impatiently for our dog to do her business. There was a dampness in the air that caused the chill to go right to the bone. I was shivering and willing the dog to hurry up when a clear thought came to my mind.

“Some of my children have no where to take shelter out of this cold. Some may have shelter, but have no heat. They don’t get to go back inside a warm house.”

And that was it. What started as a random thought evolved into Blankets of Blessing, because there was nothing random about it really. It was an opportunity presenting itself.
