Following the Signs – Making Changes

Following the Signs
Everywhere we look, there are signs. Signs to guide us. Signs to inform us. Signs to warn us. However, signs are nothing but shapes, symbols and letters unless we choose to heed their message. The same applies to the signs God gives us.

A little over a week ago, I announced that I was taking a break to watch over the affairs of my household, to catch up on a few things. Turns out, God knew I would need that time to to deal with family situations without hindrance, and He had a few signs to show me along the way.

Hard Hats Required

Friday afternoon, I filed a petition for legal guardianship of my husband’s ex-wife’s daughter (his step-daughter when they were married) – long, grace-filled story.  She will be living with us for the next year – sort of starting over with a clean slate. This will greatly change the dynamics of our home and create some challenges.

Also, some concerns regarding my youngest daughter rose to the surface during this time. Working through this with her will require much wisdom, consistency and grace.

God’s handiwork is written all over these circumstances and I am excited – emotionally drained at the moment – but excited.

God is really impressing upon my heart that my tweens and teens need me more now than when they were toddlers. I don’t want to forsake them. I’m heeding the sign.

Stop
He’s also been speaking to me for quite some time about balance in blogging and homemaking and to be quite frank, I was flat out ignoring Him.

He’s been telling me to STOP being a deal hunter…but rather to deal more with intentional living. To stop competing with the thousands of other frugal bloggers and just do what He has put before me. It’s taken awhile, but I’m heeding the sign.

He’s shown me more and more the neglect I’ve heaped upon my home. It’s by no means a pig stye, but let’s just say it’s more often in disarray with lots of unfinished projects scattered about, not exactly warm and inviting. I’m heeding the sign.
Road Work Ahead
All these signs call for some re-prioritizing here at Simple Saving Savvy. In the following weeks, you can expect:

  • Weekly local grocery store deals and coupon matchups.
  • Only the BEST deals for Walgreens, Target and CVS.
  • Printable coupons.
  • MORE “in the kitchen” and “in the home” posts.
  • LESS online deals and freebies.
  • MORE tips to equip you as a savvy shopper and encourage you in your call to be a homemaker.
  • LESS daily posts in general as I strive to make my home and family my top priority.
  • A somewhat new, simplified, user-friendly design.

While I hope that you will stick around and see what is to come, I realize that making these changes may mean that Simple Saving Savvy no longer meets your needs. I will understand if many of you decide that we will part ways and I pray many blessings over you as you continue your frugal journey.

I cannot begin to explain the peace and calm that has come over me since making the decision to simply obey, to embrace the signs. What signs are you ignoring or heeding?

I encourage you to continue to do what God is telling you to do prioritizing your time. Having 5 children of my own, striving to please God I discovered “It’s not just about us…it’s about the GENERATIONS.” Thank you for being such a blessing!

Hebrews 13:7 – Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. >>> I read this this morning as I sought the Lord, and He reminded me that my greatest responsibility and privilege at this time is showing my children who He is. My greatest desire to show them an accurate picture of who He is. I know He will equip us and empower us as we seek to minister to and disciple our children. He will be honored by our obedience, and His word will not come back void.
